The dead are Shivabasamma Hoogara (68) of G Basavanakoppa of Dharwad district, Basamma Karadi (88), Shantavva Karadi (45) and Shivappa Karadi (40) of Harti in Gadag taluk

The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Hubli and Gadag. They were returning to their relative’s house in Harti after attending a wedding party in Hatti, Raichur district. Police said the vehicle toppled as the driver lost control over the wheel while negotiating a curve near Kotumachagi-Narayanapur bridge. Overspeeding is the cause of the mishap, the police said. The driver of the vehicle is absconding. DSP Ravikumar Nayaka and Rural CPI Ujjanakoppa visited the spot.
