The concert titled, Hridaya-Raaga, will be a musical tribute to the genius who has contributed many a musical moments to music lovers across the globe.
The concert will be held at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds on February 16 and will be attended by who’s and who of the film industry from across South India.
The proceeds of the programme will go to Samarpana-71 a healthcare project organised by Rotary International district 3190. Under this programme, 71 free heart surgeries for children, 71 eye camps and many other humanitarian service projects have been planned.
The programme is directed by Hamsalekha and will see the participation of superstars and popular singers.
Yesudas will lead the evening. “We are honoured to have Yesudas with us in this programme. The celebration will coincide with 50 years of his association with the silver screen, so it holds much importance. Many singers like S P Balasubramanyam, Vani Jayaram, Rajesh Krishnan, Manjula Gururaj, Hemanth and Gurukiran are joining hands for this cause, surely it an entertaining one,” says Manandi Suresh, District Governor, Rotary International District 3190.
Pledging his support to the programme, K J Yesudas said he celebrates his birthday in a simple way at Kollur every year, this programme has given him the opportunity to help the needy.
“I don’t take it as a birthday celebration. This is the programme for underprivileged in the society who are deprived of many facilities. We are not making a single penny from this event. Everything will go to the needy. So, I request people to support us in a big way,” he said.
