Suspecting wife's character, man throws acid on her

The couple's 15-year-old daughter too suffered injuries as some acid fell on her, police said.
The incident occurred at Thurpgannavaram village this afternoon when the accused Sheikh Allabaksh, a chef, allegedly threw acid on his wife Sheikh Mehrabi.

Their daughter Shaina too suffered injuries, the police said.

Allabaksh, who is an alcoholic, suspected his wife's fidelty, said Deputy Superintendent of Police K S S V Subbareddy.

The woman and her daughter were sleeping when the incident occurred, he said, adding, Sheikh Mehrabi was admitted to a hospital in Guntur and her condition was critical.

Police are looking for Allabaksh who is absconding.
