Seamless session with scientists

Selected students from 40 high schools and 10 pre-university colleges in the district were present to interact with scientists. The programme was organised by the Science Technical Department and State Science Council.

Dr Vinod Lakkappan explained in detail about DNA, forensic sciences and also presented a demo.

Dr Raghotham Rao talked about metals and answered to the queries of students.

Objective discussion on science-contemporary life and blind belief was the main highlight of the interaction.

Students of Medihalli Government School and Kolar Chinmay School inaugurated the discussion.

Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar Meena observed that knowledge can be gained by being curious and suggested students to close text books and develop questioning tendency about whatever they come across.

Principal of Devraj Urs Medical College Dr M B Sanekoppa advised the students to develop interest in research.

Deputy Director of Public Education Department Prahalad Gowda said the district needs alteast 83 science teachers. However, a few eligible teachers are available. Honorary secretary for Science Council Vasudara Bhupati suggested students to take interest in both academic and extracurricular activities.

Block Education Officer K S Nagaraj Gowda, convener Manjula Bhimrao, K Prahalad Rao and Vanishree  were present.

Valedictory

The valedictory function is scheduled on January 19 at 4.30 pm. Registrar of Devraj Urs Medical College Dr S Chandrashekhar Shetty will be present. President of Science Council Dr H S Niranjanaradhya, Block Education officer A N Nagendra Prasad and others will be present on the occasion.
