He will, however, pay his crew after the release of the film. “I will shoot the entire film in five days flat and set a new trend in the Telugu industry that is plagued by high cost productions spread for almost a year,” Verma says.

The director of films like Rangeela and Rakta Charitra, Verma said, “My primary intention in doing this film is to establish how it is possible to use present-day technology to make a two-hour theatrical film in just 5 days at zero cost. The technology I am using for this film demonstrates that it is not crores of rupees that we need but just a story that excites everyone and a desire in all of them to see the film happen.”

Verma will release his present film Katha on February 4 and then commence his next film after a week. “I am naming the film Dongana Mutha (Gang of thieves), a highly entertaining action thriller, with Telugu matinee idol Ravi Teja of Mirapakaya fame in the lead with Charmee, Ajay, Subba Raju,” he says. Verma will be assisted by Puri Jagannath and Harish Shanker.

Everyone knows that normally a film takes between 100 and 150 days to shoot and more than 150 to 200 people to work on it. But Dongala Mutha will be completed in just five days from start to finish, with a unit of just eight people and at zero cost.

Industry sources who have seen the script say that the film could cost anywhere between Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore. “If editors and dubbing theatres give up their charges, it could be made at Rs 65 lakh, the lowest cost- zero cost,” they say.
Dongana Mutha will be released on March 11
