When he was apprehended by the cops, he supposedly told them — Sir, I know my route to freedom. But, he said he would spend sometime behind the bars, before doing so. By the time cops understood that he meant every word he had said, Satish had found his way into the free world.

Satish alias Satya, one among the three undertrials who escaped from the jail ward in K R Hospital here on Tuesday, was the second accused in the dacoity cum murder that took place at Vidya Vikas Institute of Engineering and Technology (VVIET) on Bannur road on January 10, 2010.

Prime accused in the case Mohammed Khalid and Satish had been wanted in whopping 54 cases. Other six accused in the same case, faced some charges, and were arrested last February.

Satish was an extremely intelligent fellow, using his brains for all wrong purposes.

According to a cop, he could hypnotise people in a short time. The trial of all 54 cases had begun and Khalid and Satish were being escorted by the armed cops to the courts at different places - Bangalore, Hassan, Gubbi, Chitradurga, Andhra Pradesh etc., Guards had received repeated instructions from their seniors to be eagle-eyed, about the duo.

If gone by his criminal antecedents, Satish perhaps prepared his escape plan in the Central Prisons of Mysore, where he was lodged, before being admitted at the hospital.

Devaraja Police have launched a manhunt for the three- that includes Sunil and Thimmaraju with Satish.

The police are also probing possibilities of cops on guard, being hand in glove with the criminals.

Though four guards were posted on duty, only one man was at the spot, and three others were not at the spot when the incident occured.
