<p>The victim, Preeti alias Sonam, has moved an application in the district court seeking registration of a case against the principal Vinod Awasthi and the MLA for shielding the culprit. Preeti, in her application, said that Awasthi , who was known to her husband, used to frequent her house and had also promised to employ him (Preeti’s husband) in his school on a good salary.<br /><br />She alleged that Awasthi had raped her during one such visit to her home in December last. Her attempt to lodge a complaint against him proved futile as the culprit enjoyed the patronage of the BSP MLA.<br /><br />Preeti had told her father and brothers about the incident after which they scolded her husband and father-in-law and asked them to send Preeti to her parents’ home.<br /><br />Two days after the alleged rape, Preeti’s husband committed suicide for reasons not yet known. Preeti, however, alleged that the police, acting under the MLA’s pressure, arrested her and her brothers on charges of forcing her husband to end his life. The court of the additional chief judicial magistrate of Etawah has posted the matter for hearing on Tuesday.<br /><br />The MLA, however, rejected the charges and has demanded a through inquiry but the leader of the opposition in the state assembly Shivpal Singh Yadav, who met the victim in jail on Saturday, claimed that she had, during the meeting, pointed fingers at the MLA. UP special director general of police, home, Brijlal also gave a clean chit to the MLA and said that an inquiry has been ordered into the allegations.</p>
