The aircraft operations at the BIA will be halted from 10 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 3.30 pm from Feb 6 to Feb 8 during the event practice and rehearsals, and from 10 am to 12 pm and 2. 30 pm to 5 pm from Feb 9 to Feb 13 during the main event, an official press release from the Bangalore International Airport Limited said.
The airlines whose aircraft operations will be impacted during this period have already been informed on the reduced operating hours.
The release, quoting BIAL President Marcel Hungerbuehler said: “As Aero India is a globally recognised event and a premier aerospace exhibition, we are proud it is held in our City not only attracting distinguished international visitors but more importantly drawing global attention and business to Bangalore.”
While necessary provisions to ensure success of the show will be made, the BIAL will work to ensure passengers and airlines are put through minimum inconvenience due to the partial closure and restriction of airspace usage.
Passenger convenience will be ensured with the respective airlines sharing timely communication on the change in airport operations and the cancelled/revised flight timings during the length of the event, the release stated.
The ancillary support by airport taxi and bus service providers will be aligned to accommodate the anticipated increase in traffic towards the Airport Road (NH 7), the release added.
The International Airport Area Division of BIA (Civil Defence Division No 22) has received the award for the second best ‘Civil Defence Division’ in Karnataka.
The contributions by the BIA Division for disaster management and community awareness were lauded by the Director General of Police and Director of Civil Defence Jija Madhavan Harisingh.
