Before leaving a threatening note and the contact number, they attacked a security guard and injured him.

Between 5 pm and 5.15 pm, the gang members in their late twenties equipped with pistols and knives landed at the UTV office on 3rd floor, Ram Plaza on CMH Road, Indiranagar. None of the officials were present when the incident occurred.

Security guard Satish Kumar was chatting with Jamal, a driver working for the neighbouring firm, who had come to meet him. Jamal sustained minor injuries when the gang attacked him.

The police said, the gang attacked Jamal, who was seated at the entrance and broke the glass partition of the office. The gang members, speaking in Kannada and Hindi, left a threatening note scribbled in English. The slip read: contact number 00441296900023, Ravi Poojary’s name and a threatening sentence saying, ‘last warning’.

Poojary claims

While the top cops were contemplating whether the gang members were really Ravi Poojary’s henchmen, Poojary himself reportedly called up another media house and claimed that it was his job. “Yes, under my directions, my boys went and threatened the UTV Bangalore office. Ronnie is a Dawood man and a portion of production money is given to Dawood. I too want a piece of cake and this is an initial dose.”

Sources said, a few days ago, UTV group chairman Ronnie Screwala had received a call from Ravi Poojary. During the conversation, the caller (Ravi Poojary) had threatened him for being close to Dawood Ibrahim. The police see no connection with the Mumbai call and today’s incident. The top cops are of the opinion that it might be the handiwork of some small time goons. Meanwhile, the police have arrested more than 30 persons, who claimed to have been the henchmen of Ravi Poojary.
