Tiger pelts seized, 3 held

Acting on a tip off, the squad waylaid an autorickshaw in which the tiger pelts were being transported. The arrested are Aboobakkar (31), a resident of Ishwaramangala, Vinod (21) a resident of Citygudde and Umesh (22) of Menala. The operation was lead by Squad SI Navinchandra Jogi. A case has been registered in Puttur police station.

Youth drowns

A youth drowned in Nethravathi river at Sujeeru in Bantwal taluk on Sunday.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Rizwan (18) of Maripalla. He along with his relatives who had come from Bangalore had been to riverside. The body is yet to be retrieved.

Man murdered

A person succumbed to the injuries he sustained when he was assaulted with a knife at his residennce in Ujjodi near Pumpwell on Saturday night.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Harish Poojary (50). The incident occurred when Poojary and John D’Souza, both residents of Sheetal apartment at Ujjodi fought over a trivial issue of car parking. It was said that Poojary initially man-handled D’Souza, who on being enraged went to his residence and brought a knife. In a fit of rage, D’Souza assaulted Poojary with knife. Poojary died while being shifted to a private hospital. D’Souza fled from the spot. A case has been registered.
