Problems galore: Girls stage protest in Hassan

They held a bucket and utensil of substandard quality of rice and sambar being served to them by the hostel authorities daily. The intention was to highlight the prevailing condition in the hostel.

They alleged that there were no basic amenities in the hospital. The girls flayed the taluk social welfare officer and hostel warden for turning deaf ears to their complaints despite bringing the issue to their notice several times. They threatened to intensify the stir if their demands were not met. On receipt of information, District Social Welfare Officer C Kanthaiah, Warden Rangamma, Taluk Social Welfare Officer Hanumantharaya and other visited the spot. The students called off their strike after the officials promised to set right the problems at the earliest.
