He was speaking at the Graduation Day of M Tech branches at PES College of Engineering here.
Calling upon graduates to take up teaching, he said that even though the number of technical institutions is increasing rapidly, there is a lack of faculty members. He said that there is a need to inculcate social values. Dr Shetty observed that various changes are bound to happen due to globalisation. He said that there is a need to produce responsible citizens graduating from colleges.

Forty three students received degrees on the occasion. College Principal Prof V Sridhar, People’s Education Trust President H D Chowdaiah, Trustee H Honappa and Dr B Ramachandra were present.
