Villagers block UPCL pump house

Owing to the damage to the UPCL pipeline, the salt water had intruded into the farm land and had contaminated the drinking water. Enraged over the incident, the villagers rushed to the spot in large number and locked the pump house.

When the protesters demanded that Tahslidar should visit the spot, Tahslidar V Prasanna Kumar and Agriculture department Assistant Director Krishna Swamy visited the spot and collected water samples from the neighbouring wells and also inspected the farm land.

Later, speaking to mediapersons, Tahsildar said Deputy Commissioner will convene a meeting with the UPCL officials and the villagers within a week.
