Gone are the days when wives used to treat their husbands as “pati parmeshwar”. Take a look at 7 Khoon Maaf and you will come to know that today women are no less than men when it comes to love.

Susanna (Priyanka Chopra) is married to Major Edwin Rodrigues (Neil Nitin Mukesh).

Susanna is sad and lonely as her husband is boring, arrogant and doubting. The physically handicapped Major cannot satisfy Susanna, thus sealing his fate. The Major along with his beautiful wife goes to hunt a man-eating panther and never returns. At the Major’s funeral ceremony, darling Susanna does “aankhe char” with Jimmy (John Abraham). A rock star and a drug addict, Jimmy is found dead in a graveyard soon. Susanna then meets Wasiullah aka Musafir (Irrfan Khan) in Kashmir. A poet, Musafir is not a man in bed unless he beats his woman. This strange habit makes him casualty no 3.  Susanna then meets Russian double agent Nick (Aleksandr Dyachenko) and later viagra-popping cop Keemat Lal (Anu Kapoor).

And finally, bankrupt Dr Tadafdar (Naseeruddin Shah) tries to make use of Susanna’s wealth to overcome his debts and joins the list of Susanna’s ex-husbands.

Based on the short story Susanna and her seven husbands by Ruskin Bond, 7 Khoon Maaf is all about Priyanka Chopra, who wants love and only love. But unfortunately, she ends up killing all her partners. Another important character in the movie is of Arun’s (Vivaan Shah), who is witness to Susanna’s pain. Arun later narrates his experience to his wife Nandini (Konkana Sen Gupta). Although, a lot of study is involved in making 7 Khoon Maaf, the movie loses its grip soon and the complex script in the end makes it a tiresome watch.

Acting wise, Priyanka stands tall. The director can pin hopes on those wives who just love to hate their husbands.
