The Mysore City Corporation  (MCC) may have won first place in solid waste management but still it is a problem as far as Hebbal first stage is concerned. Maintaining cleanliness is a biggest challenge the Mysore City Corporation has been facing.

The Ward Number 27 comprises Hebbal first stage, Kidagannamma Extension, Mahadeshwara Layout, Vanivilasa layout, Railway Extension, Chamundeshwarinagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Lokanayakanagar and Bhairaveshwaranagar. The problem of solid waste management persists in all these areas.

The garbage is littered on roads, vacant sites and CA sites. This ward has hardly 20 men for disposal of solid waste which is not at all sufficient. The system of door to door collection of garbage is yet to be implemented effectively.

K T Chaluvegowda, the councillor of this ward, wants the corporation to increase the number of cleaning staff. But his demand has not been met by the authorities concerned till date.

Revenue belt
Except Hebbal first stage, almost all the houses are built on revenue land. Despite no revenue from the residents by way of taxes, the corporation has provided roads, UGD and other basic amenities in the interest of people. The majority of the people work as labourers in factories, small scale industries in Hebbal and Metagalli Industrial estates.
The residents are happy as they get sufficient quantity of drinking water. The people still rear cow, sheep and buffalos in the area. All the areas are having good bus facility but there are no good schools. Parents have to send their children to schools in Kumabarakoppal, Metagalli and other places for good education, complains Mahesh, a resident.

Since it was a revenue layout, not much importance has been given for parks and land for schools.

Chaluvegowda told City Herald that the money given by the MCC, MUDA, MLAs and others used for UGD, road repairs and development of two parks and graveyard in the ward. "I have given importance to basic amenities to the residents of my Ward", he noted.Ward number 27
