Cyber kiosks in 170 govt colleges

 Enabling this, the Department of Higher Education, on Thursday, signed a MoU with “Net HotZone,’ a private service provider.

According to the MoU, 170 government degree colleges and 59  polytechnic colleges will have these CyberKiosks, which will provide free internet access facility to all students.
Each CyberKiosk will comprise four or more computers, one printer and high speed internet facility with unlimited downloading capacity.

More than three lakh students will benefit from the project which is worth Rs 15 crores. However, these cyber kiosks will be regulated by cyber laws.

Assessment

On the project, Dr M Nagambika Devi, Commissioner, Department of Collegiate Education said, “To start with, the CyberKiosks will be installed at Maharani Arts and Science College to assess students utilisation. Teachers will be trained to enhance the usage and to help students make better use of the facility. The unlimited download capacity will enable students to acquire knowledge from the web world.”

Aravind Limbavali, Minister for Higher Education said that the project will benefit students in government colleges who are denied of various facilities.
