Don’t you want your country to win?” he winks! As most cricket-lovers are aware, the spinner is also known for his batting prowess. At present, he is all set to show his magic this World Cup season.

Taking a break from the strenuous cricket practice sessions, this charming cricketer was shopping and chilling out with his teammates in the City when he spoke to Metrolife on cricket and his home country — South Africa. “This is the third time I am coming to Bangalore and as always, I am having a great time,” he tells ‘Metrolife’. “India is a great country. It’s lots of fun to hang out here,” he adds.

More than the World Cup itself, Robin is looking forward to playing against the Indian Cricket Team in India. “It will be exciting to play India in India,” he quips. Do we take that as a warning to Team India? He merely smiles as he says, “India has got some really good players. So it should be a good contest.”

Though he hasn’t played for the Indian Premier League yet, he is looking forward to being a part of it in future. “But not being a part of IPL has its own advantages. While the other players have to start training for the IPL soon after the World Cup, I can relax and chill out,” he laughs.

Peterson loves the outdoors. So he makes sure he spends time with nature and engages himself in physical activities whenever he is free. Their love for the outdoors is something all South African cricketers share don’t they? “Yes,” he agrees. “Spending time outdoors is a big part of our culture. Back home in Johannesburg, people always go out and indulge in outdoor activities. I personally love chilling out and relaxing on the beach,” he adds.

Ask him about his inspirations, you would expect him to take names of a few cricketers or sportspersons. However, he doesn’t! He names the iconic African President, Nelson Mandela. “He is truly inspiring as he personifies the true traits of an African. All Africans have a personality like his — tough and resilient,” he gushes.
