However, KPCC will take a delegation to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and convince him about the need to grant special status to the region at the earliest.

Speaking to reporters at the airport here, he said all the governments in the State, irrespective of which party was in power, had failed to develop the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. The Congress party in the State had been demanding the Central government to grant special status to Hyderabad-Karnataka region for the past several years.

But, the demand hadn’t been fulfiled for various reasons. “We will meet all the Central ministers, including P Chidambaram, and convince them in this regard soon,” the KPCC chief said.

He alleged that the Yeddyurappa-led State government was indulging in politics of vendetta. The government was not allotting adequate funds to the constituencies represented by leaders of Opposition parties. “We strongly condemn such an anti-democratic attitude of the government.”

Replying to a query, he said, Tourism Minister Janardhana Reddy had failed to appear before the court despite receiving nine notices. By showing disrespect to the judiciary, he had conveyed a wrong message to the society.
