State to get four airports in two years

  Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel said in Lok Sabha that the Airport Authority of India has planned to extend the Hubli airport runway for Airbus A320 operations and construction of new terminal building and apron on a 615-acre land.

The Authority has requested the Karnataka government to provide land free of cost. A draft MoU to this effect has been forwarded to the State government for concurrence, the minister said.       

Replacement

Replying to G M Siddeshwar (BJP), the minister said some of the important equipment from Hubli airport including Instrument Landing System (ILS) have been diverted to Nanded and Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi for operational requirement of these airports. Replacement of these equipment will be provided at Hubli airport.

Minister of State for Railways K H Muniyappa said in Lok Sabha that bridge and earth work for Kadur-Chikmagalur-Sakaleshpur new line project has been taken up and Rs 71.77 crore has been spent for this work till March 2009. In the 2009-10, Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned for the project.
