Joshi, who was arrested in Ghaziabad late on Wednesday night and booked under the SC/ST Act, was sent to jail after a court rejected her bail application. Earlier late on Wednesday night, BSP workers led by party legislator Babloo Singh allegedly ransacked and torched Joshi’s house in Lucknow in protest against her reported remarks, a charge rejected by Mayawati.
The BSP supremo told a press conference here on Thursday that Sonia Gandhi’s silence on the matter clearly reflected that the “indecent remarks” by the state Congress chief were made “on the instruction of the Congress high command”.
