Confusion continues over Uroos dates

Last Updated 17 March 2011, 20:46 IST

In a press release issued on Friday, the Darga traditional head Sayed Gaus Mohiyuddin Shakhadri has said, he had sent an application to the Deputy Commissioner requesting his permission for observing Uroos as per the order issued by the Supreme Court. “After the discussions with Fakir, we have decided the Uroos schedule on March 26, 27 and 28.

We oppose the opinion of the BJP Minority Block who has urged us to celebrate Uroos on the day suggested by the district administration. I request the district administration to reply to my letter at the earliest,” he said.

In yet another development, the temporary committee consisting of 25 members which has extended support to the Shakhadri has suspended the committee President Aurangajeb from his post. Responding to his suspension, Aurangajeb said, he was appointed as the President by 40 dignitaries and the committee has no right to hold such kind of meetings all of a sudden and suspend the President.

If at all the members think that they have the power, then let them exhibit the power first and then suspend me, he challenged. He defended his acts by saying that he has only acted as a bridge between the Deputy Commissioner and the Shakhadri. He opined that entire confusion will be cleared once the Shakhadri arrives at India before the Holi fest.

DC N S Channappa Gowda has said that according to the previous orders, Uroos must be celebrated on the very next day of Holi. This year the Holi is on March 19, thus Uroos must be observed on March 20, 21 and 22, he confirmed.
