Perpetrators new found technique to refill

A two bhp motor normally fixed at the residential complexes to pump water from sumps to overhead water tanks, was used to refill the gas here.

The motor had two separate outlets- one connected to LPG cylinders and another to auto LPG kits, used by vehicles of types. Why they preferred to use motor was- it also released sufficient air making up for one kg quantity, helping the accused save one kg in every cylinder he refilled, said a cop who took part in the raid.

Following a tip off, cops led by Inspector T B Rajanna raided a shed in Mohammed Sait Block in the morning and recovered 28 LPG cylinders and other equipment worth about ` 50,000.

While the kingpin, identified as Hafeez and his accomplice Nadeem managed to give a slip to the police, their another associate Farooq fell in the net. Most of the cylinders were commercial, and had been used to refill gas kits of autorickshaws and cars.

A case has been registered and investigation is on.

Office burgled

Burglars have decamped with a laptop worth ` 20,000 from an advocate’s office here recently.

Latha, an advocate with her office on New Kantharaj Urs Road in K G Koppal here, went to her office on Sunday evening, only to discover the theft.

The miscreants have also broken open the doors of the offices of two more advocates in the same complex. However, no items have been reported to have been lifted from those offices.

Saraswathipuram Police have registered a case.
