Finally, the completely damaged road has been re-asphalted after 25 years recently and opened for the public.

The road is a major State highway that connects Mudigere with other towns including Chikmagalur, Balehonnur, Sringeri and Koppa. However, five kilometre road stretch at Hoosalli village near Aldur was remaining in a deplorable condition with potholes for the last 25 years. The road was turning into marshy fields during rainy seasons. Students were facing problems as they were not able to reach schools on time due to the bad road.

Students were also forced to travel in private buses despite having bus passes when KSRTC do not ply buses on the route.

People in the region were fighting for the development of road for the last two decades.

Requests and memorandum submitted to people’s representatives and mininster did not yield any result.

Only pothole filling work were being taken up when organisations hold protest. The issue was a subject for discussion in all Janaspandana meet too.

The then BJP State President K S Eshwarappa, who travelled on the route, had promised the local party leaders of sanctioning funds for the development of the road. Finally Rs 1.2 crore has been released through MLA Kumaraswamy for the road repair work. Following this, the road has been asphalted and made motorable within two months.
