Ghosh, who will turn 25 this month, will be the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) nominee from Kasba in Kolkata's southern outskirts.

Ghosh is one of the many fresh faces fielded by the ruling Left Front, which is facing its toughest electoral challenge since coming to power in 1977.

A state leader of the CPI-M's Students Federation of India (SFI), Ghosh graduated in 2009 in economics. He is pursuing his MA from the Rabindra Bharati University.

“Certainly it’s a big responsibility but there is no pressure as such," Ghosh told IANS, referring to his candidature.

Is he like Michael Mukherjee, the firebrand youth leader played by Bollywood star Ajay Devgn in Mani Ratnam’s political opus "Yuva"?

“Although I liked the character a lot, drawing comparisons will not be appropriate. I have my own principles and views. I will always endeavour to stick to them,” he said.
