Dr Edward, Agnel, Gopinath selected for Konkani Academy awards

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, President Kundapur Narayan Kharvi informed that the awards will be given away on March 26 at Kashi Mutt Hall, Malleshwaram in Bangalore. M J F Lion Agnel Rodrigues has been chosen for the honorary award for his outstanding contribution to Konkani language. Dr Edward Nazareth for Konkani literature and Gopinath Bhat for Konkani Theatre. Swimmer Prakash Kharvi has been awarded with special Konkani award for his outstanding record in swimming, he added.

The books that are chosen for ‘Academy Pusthaka Puraskara-2010’ includes ‘Janna Mahakavicho Yoshodhara Charitha’ (Kannada-Konkani translation) by Stephen Quadros Permude, ‘Kat Thutcho Ve’ (collection of poems) by Antony Prakash D’Souza and ‘Sathem’ (collection of small stories) by Catherine Rodrigues Katpadi. Special award has been given to ‘Kanoon Maheth’ authored by Stanley R Dcosta, he added.
