"An earthquake of 5.7 magnitude (on the Richter scale) jolted northern parts of the country at around 3.19 p.m. Monday," an official of the India Meteorological Department told IANS.
The epicentre of the earthquake was in Hindukush at latitude 36.5 degrees north and longitude 70.9 degrees east.
