The taste lingers...

LONG STANDING EATERY

A stroll down M G Road still reminds you of the good old Coffee House and its bread-omelette? Then just take a quick turn toward Brigade Road and soon you’d stumble upon another eatery where one can indulge in some piping hot coffee and bread-omelette.
The Kohinoor Restaurant goes back a good 55 years serving an array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies.

Kohinoor has withstood the test of time and the rapid expansion of commercial establishments on this stretch. “We have been here for so long and seen so many restaurants come and go. One thing is for sure they can never match up to the tastes or the dishes that we have,” says Mohammad, who mans the place. According some of the regulars, the place has not changed since it first opened. “I come here every morning for my cup of coffee. And I don’t remember it changing one bit,” says a regular.

On entering the restaurant one can either sit on the old wooden benches near the cash counter or for  more privacy, you could choose one of the two closed cabins which can accommodate close to six people. The place is known for its bread-omelettes and Kerala parathas in the morning and chicken biryani in the afternoon. While they don’t have anything specific menu for evening, the dosas they serve can be teamed up with the vegetarian dishes available on the menu and in the night the restaurant attracts a crowd for its non-vegetarian fare.

Located at a place like Brigade Road, where shoppers and visitors are there through out day and night, the restaurant does not face anything as a ‘peak hour’. Open from 11 am to 11.30 pm, the place is host to a variety of people.

The eatery has another branch in Shivajinagar.
