He always heeded to the advice of SP K V Sharathchandra whenever the city faced law and order problem.

He was speaking at a function organised to felicitate outgoing SP Sharathchandra who had been transferred on promotion to Bangalore, here on Friday.

Prakash said the SP conducted six elections peacefully. The communal clashes were controlled within hours. It was because of his interaction with elected representatives to maintain normalcy. “The police officers who come here go with a heavy heart upon transfer.

This is because of love and affection showered by people”, he added.

Prakash felicitated the outgoing SP on behalf of the organisers. Replying to the felicitation, Sharathchandra said he maintained law and order because of co-operation of general public. But, he failed to streamline traffic in city.

But, his successor, Amith Singh would address this problem, he added. The new SP Amith Singh said Sharathchandra has been one of the best police officers in the State and he was his guide and philosopher in the department.

It was quite challenging to fill the void created with the transfer of Sharathchandra.

However, he would do good work with people’s cooperation. City Municipal Council President C R Shankar, CMC members Ambika Ravishankar, Shyam Sundar, Prasannakumar, Nethravathi, H S Shivamurthy, Syed Akbar, H S Anilkumar and Commissioner Shivananjoegowda were present.
