Shoot out: Accused confess to hatching plot?

Shankara and Manja who were in the custody of Mandi Police for four days from March 23 have recorded their versions, in the statement given to the cops.

The duo was produced before the court on Saturday, the last day of their custody. They were remanded to judicial custody and were sent to Dharwad (Shankara) and Belgaum (Manja) jails subsequently.

Seena, who is facing multiple charges of murder, survived an attack on his life by an undertrial Balaji Rao alias ‘Tibet’ on March 10 at the jail here.

Balaji emptied all the six rounds of bullets using country made gun. Seena who received the bullet on his left arm had been admitted at the jail ward of K R Hospital.

Balaji had launched the attack on Seena following the orders from his (Seena) cousins Shankara and Manja.

One more on the run

He had received the weapon from Prem, 20 days ahead of the incident. Prem who is still eluding cops is a close associate of Manja, it is learnt.

The doctors operated on Seena and successfully removed the bullet recently. He was discharged and sent to the jail same day.

Balaji has been shifted to another jail in the State.
