BWSSB to streamline water supply

Last Updated 27 March 2011, 18:46 IST

According to R Venkataraju, engineer-in-chief, there are already 80 odd water tankers including private tankers and the Board is planning to hire more private tankers for Rs 1,650 per day for five trips.

“We have enough water, but supplying it to the designated areas is the problem. Once we get the consent of the operators of private tankers, supplying water to new BBMP areas will not be a problem,” he said.

He added that they are also planning to install GPS systems in the tankers to monitor the supply of water.

BWSSB had written a letter to Deputy Commissioner M K Aiyappa requesting him to facilitate the process of hiring private tankers for water supply.

The DC has in turn written to RTO offices seeking information on the number of water tankers plying in the City.  BWSSB will negotiate with private tankers to enable them to supply water to the parched areas of the City.
