Last Updated 20 July 2009, 18:12 IST

According to a press release, this follows after Gladstone took charge as the CSI Southern Diocese which fell vacant after the retirement of Bishop Devaraj Bangera.

Bangera retired on attaining superannuation by completing 65 years on June 29.

However, Bangera filed a suit in the civil court contending that he is born not in 1944 but in 1945 and therefore had one more year of tenure as CSI Bishop.

The release from CSI claimed that he had tried to substantiate his claim by submitting forged and fake birth certificate from Kasargod Municipality, forged transfer certificate of Christian High School, Udupi and fake baptismal certificate of Kanthi Church, Jeppu to the court. However, fifth Additional Civil Court (Junior division) dismissed Bangera’s petition on July 17.
