Tight security put in place

Apart from prime ministers of both the countries, Congress president Sonia Gandhi,  her son Rahul Gandhi, corporate barons Mukesh Ambani, Vijay Mallya, Luxmi Mittal and a host of Bollywood celebrities, including Aamir Khan are expected to arrive.

Traffic movement in 2-km radius of the stadium has been restricted. Only authorised vehicles with parking permits will be allowed within the restricted zone. There are also restrictions on public movement around the stadium.  Those staying around the stadium are facing a “house arrest” sort of situation. They have been advised not to climb up on terraces to view the match.

The Western Command has been alerted to cope with exigencies, if any. “Punjab commandos  who underwent a three-month extensive training in Israel are on stand-by in case of any emergency, said Khubi Ram, DIG of Punjab police said.
