The protesters started their protest march from Old Taluk Office premises in City and proceeded towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office via M G Road.

Addressing the protesters, DSS Convenor K Kumar said that the authorities concerned should allow the members of the public to sell beef as it the staple food of a large number of people.

“Before banning the sale of beef in Chikmagalur, the authorities concerned should ban the sale of beef in the entire State,” he said and added that the ban on sale of beef can be imposed in Chikmagalur only after it is implemented in the entire State.

He also appealed the DC to cancel the Anti-Cow Slaughter Committee formed recently and also to withdraw cases filed against the people belonging to minority community in the recent incidents.

A large number of people belonging to minority community too participated in the dharna and extended their support to the dharna.
