In a press release here, the DC said the government had given direction to book a criminal case against Sitaramappa. Although, the chief executive officer was trying to serve the notice to him, the officer had gone on unauthorised absence. Besides, he was not at all available to receive the notice.

Alternative arrangement

Gupta asked the officials to make alternative arrangements on April 5 and April 14 in view of Dr B R Ambedkar and Dr Babu Jagjivan Ram Jayanthi respectively. Recently, the commissioner, Department of Social Welfare had written to the deputy commissioner to book a criminal case against Sitaramappa for allegedly misusing the funds. On the basis of the letter, the DC had directed the CEO of zilla panchayat to go ahead with filing the criminal case against the district social welfare officer.

Transferred

Meanwhile, in another case, planning officer of Zilla Panchayat, M R Balakrishna has been relieved from duty and transferred to Chikkaballapura on March 31 for ‘dereliction of duty’. The DC said the officer had failed to give convincing replies to the questions of MP and legislators during the previous meeting.  Balakrishna had not furnished details despite repeated instructions from the DC.

In the wake of this, a report was submitted to the government seeking action against him.  Based on the report, the government issued an order transferring Balakrishna to Chikkaballapur.
