Acharya offers 'Bhagina' to River Swarna

Speaking to the media on the occasion, he said that the ritual will be continued here every year and that the district administration will be in charge of it.

The Chief Minister has been informed regarding the losses incurred owing to rain havoc and relief works are in progress in the district.

Officials concerned have been directed to forward the detailed report on the extra damages incurred.

Additional relief measures will be announced after assessing those reports.

Measures will be taken to solve the problem of sea erosion in Thenka Yermal area, he assured.

River Swarna is indeed a life support for majority of the people in the area. The farmers, especially, are dependent on the river for their survival, Dr Acharya added.

MLA Raghupathy Bhat, CMC President Dinaker Shetty, CMC Commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, Town Development Authority Chairman Sudhakar Shetty and others were present.
