'Accord taluk status to Vemagal'

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, members of Nagarika Horata Samiti said, Vemagal has all the eligibility to be a taluk. It has 350 villages, 1.20 lakh population. A memorandum has been submitted to M B Prakash committee in this regard, which has not been considered by the committee. In protest of this call for Vemagal bundh has been given on July 24, members said.

Vemagal gram panchayat should be upgraded to town municipal council, and 24 hrs power should be supplied to Vemagal, were their other demands.

Gram Panchayat president P Nagaraj, vice-president V N Rajendraprasad, V M Kantraj, B P Giri, S Rajkimar, Mallesh, V M Nagesh, Manjunath and Sampat were present.
