ENVision off to colourful start

At ‘ENVision-2011’, a two-day annual technical festival organised by the Department of Environmental Engineering, Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), students set the stage on fire  dancing to the tunes of Bollywood hits and instrumental music, besides enthusiastically participating in games such as ‘Chaddi- Baddis’, ‘Tug-of-war’ and ‘Bowl-out’.

While loud whistles echoed through the college auditorium, Ramya, Kavya N A, Vidya Karanth and Sangeetha dressed in red outfits set the cultural evening rolling by shimmying to the song ‘K Sera Sera’ a superhit song from ‘Pukar’ featuring Prabhudeva and Madhuri Dixit in the original. Following them were Apoorva and Shivaranjini presenting a dazzling ‘Kathak’ performance. However, second semester student, Alpheus was the show stopper with his solo singing  Egged on by the crowd, Alpheus sang ‘Friends for ever’, receiving a huge round of applause for his one-man show.

Today’s events

The unique event of the fest is a technical treasure hunt on the college campus, in which participants will have to find the major source of pollutants.

 Speaking to Deccan Herald, student co-ordinator Namratha said that the event is aimed at reducing waste generated in the college.

‘ENVison-2011’ is also organising a photography contest for which contestants have to submit five photographs each.

The other contests include a technical paper presentation and ‘Spunk the Junk’.
