The elections are scheduled to be held on April 30, seven days after the term of the mayor and deputy mayor ends. Under the rotation basis, the BBMP will now have a woman from the scheduled caste as its next mayor and the deputy mayor from the backward caste (2A) from the reserved category.
Five aspirants
The five aspirants for the mayor’s post are Sharadamma of Shettyhalli, Rekha (Chalavadipalya), Bhuvaneshwari (Sagayanagar), Savitha Ramesh (Hoysalanagar) and Roopa Ramesh (Bilekalhalli). It is also stated that the elections to all the Standing Committees are likely to be held the same day.
