Thousands throng Ramdev's yoga camp

Thousands of yoga enthusiasts flocked the free yoga camp organised by Baba Ramdev and Bharath Swabhiman Yathra, an anti-corruption campaign by Ramdev’s Divya Yoga Mandir Trust.

The yoga enthusiasts and the supporters of the campaign thronged in big numbers from as early as 5 am in the wee hours when Baba Ramdev began teaching yoga techniques and preaching about the daily practices in life. Even as the Baba himself demonstrated different yoga postures, the audience enthusiastically took part in yogic jogging and pranayama.

He explained that there were 12 different kinds of yogic walking and eight types of pranayama and talked about Sukshma Vyayama. Briefing about the benefits of pranayama, he said pranayama helped fight all the diseases and keep the ailments at bay. It rejuvenates each single cell of the body, he added. The participants followed his instruction to conduct themselves in different pranayama postures and like Kapalbhathi, Bahiya, Aloma, Viloma, Pranava Pranayam, Ujjai and others.

On the occasion, Ramdev also called upon the people to join the nation-wide campaign against corruption. The Swabhiman Yathra started by the Divya Yoga Mandir Trust has travelled more than 70,000 km creating public awareness on the corruption.

“The corruption can only be rooted when there is a mass campaign and all the 100 crore population are up in arm against the corrupt people and corrupt system,” he said.

The participants included the old and the children alike. A free health check up camp was also organised on the occasion. A large group of Ramdev’s followers in city, basically those who  have settled here from North India  also thronged the venue to meet the yoga guru.

Among the prominent people who participated in the camp include Medical Education and District In-charge Minister S A Ramdas, Chairman of Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) L Nagendra, president of District Cooperative Union H V Rajeev.
