The occasion was Bharath Sawabhiman Yathra and free mass yoga camp organised by Bharath Swabhiman, Pathanjali Yoga Peeta (Trust) district unit. Irrespective of the age and sex, the children, elderly men, women and all assembled together and performed yoga and pranayama for continuous two and half hours. The atmosphere was lively, with the crowd making the same movement as guided by Baba Ramadev without a pinch of fatigue.

Baba Ramadev who began the camp with the asanas, spoke about the importance of yoga, health and fitness. In between, he propagated the need for a corruption-free society. To kindle the spirit of patriotism which is also one of the objectives of the camp, he said: “We Indians invented maths, economics and other concepts. But unfortunately today we regret that we Indians are good for nothing. We are no less than others,” he said.

At the end of the session, a researcher from Haridwar explained about the scientific significance of yoga and pranayama. The scientific experiment conducted on volunteers with High BP at Haridwar’s Pathanjali laboratory showed the decrease in Blood Pressure over a period of time.

Sharing his happiness for taking part in the camp, Ramesh Prabhu from Bejai said, the camp was worth attending. “Though we have seen Baba Ramdev’s yoga lessons on TV, this was quite different. And the speech was inspirational,” he said. Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav, Police Commissioner Seemath Kumar Singh, Coastal
Development Authority Chairman Nagaraj Shetty also took part in the camp.

A free medical check-up camp by Ayurveda doctors from Haridwara was held on the occasion.
