Royal couples traditionally set off on their honeymoon in an open carriage the day they are married, but William and Kate will spend the night at either Buckingham palace or Clarence House, said The Daily Telegraph. They are expected to fly abroad the following day for a two-week break at a secluded location.

Two generations of royal newly-weds have travelled to Hampshire to begin married life at Broadlands, the former home of Earl Mountbatten of Burma, the Prince of Wale’s great-uncle.In 1947 the Queen, then Princess Elizabeth, and the Duke of Edinburgh posed for pictures on the estate, near Romsey, where they spent a weekend before flying to Balmoral for the rest of their honeymoon.

In 1981 Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, memorably set off for Waterloo station in an open carriage with a “Just Married” sign, before taking the train to Broadlands for the first three days of their married life.

Kate will spend her last night as a single woman at an exclusive London hotel surrounded by her family and friends, St James’s Palace has said.

The Daily Telegraph also reported that an oldest daughter born to Prince William and Kate Middleton could become British Monarch ahead of any younger brothers under plans to alter “discriminatory” rules governing the line of succession.

British Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is actively pursuing the plan to scrap the principle of male primogeniture from the monarchy in order to grant any future princesses born to the couple the same rights as male children, the report said.

Under current arrangements, the 28-year-old Prince’s first born son would be next in line to the throne, even if he had an older sister. But, Clegg, who is responsible for constitutional reform within the British government, is seeking to change this so that in future the line of succession is determined without regard to sex, the report said.
