After having come so close to winning the World Cup, losing it is disappointing. But Tillakaratne Dilshan, the Sri Lankan cricketer, believes that one must always remain positive. He is glad that his team at least put up a good challenge in the finals. Now Dilshan is all charged up for the Indian Premier League and is looking forward to an amazing season. “My aim has always been to play good cricket, no matter where I am,” Dilshan tells Metrolife.

But that’s not all what the IPL is about. From fashion, glamour, endorsements, Dilshan says he is ready for the entire package. While shooting for an advertisement which required singing and dancing to a tune, the rather reserved Dilshan performed without any inhibitions. “It’s an exciting experience. Initially, there is that anxiety but gradually you get used to it and learn to enjoy it,” he adds.

This ex-‘Delhi Daredevils’ player has no qualms about leaving the team and joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The reason according to him is, “It’s all part and parcel of the game.” He adds, “There are three of us from ‘Delhi Daredevils’ who have joined RCB this year so it’s almost like coming back to the family.”

Not so long ago, some of his current teammates were on the opposite team and Dilshan was playing against them. He laughs, “That is true, but off the field we are all old friends catching up after a long time.”

With so many young players looking forward to playing with and learning from Dilshan, one wonders who this all-rounder is excited about playing with. “I consider myself lucky to be in the same side as AB de Villiers. He is someone I have always admired and I am also looking forward to playing with Virat Kohli,” he says.
