The rain that lashed for more than two hours accompanied with gusty winds led to loss of agricultural crops. Putthige Gram Panchayat office which was repaired using Rs 5.5 lakh last month got damaged due to the rain. The tiled roof has collapsed and cracks have appeared on the wall. And the buildings near the Gram Panchayat office too have been damaged. The localites have vented their anger over the poor quality of work which has led to the damage.

The areca trees grown in the region too have fallen in the farms owing to the rain. The banana plants and vegetable crops too have been damaged. As the summer rain has affected the crops, the government has decided to provide relief fund.

The rain poured heavily in Kumble, Putthige and Badiadka regions. The streams which were
in a dry condition are now seen flooding with water. The general public except for the agriculturists left a sigh of relief as the rains brought some fresh air at a time when the public were experiencing the real summer heat.
