<p>According to a press release, sand lifting and transportation of sand without licence is totally prohibited in the district. <br /><br />Besides, illegal transport of sand to neighbouring states is also punishable. As per the new policy, henceforth, sand extraction, storage and sale will be looked after by Public Works Department. <br /><br />A taluk-level task force committee has been constituted in this regard. The Department of Mines and Geology, Revenue and PWD had identified sites of sand extraction sites.</p>
