CMC disconnects water supply to 29 houses

A team led by Municipal Commissioner Krishnamurthy visited various extensions collecting the cess from April 1 onwards. A total of Rs 30 lakh was thus collected, informed Municipal Engineer Tejamurthy.

According to the last fiscal year, a total of Rs 30 lakh was due to be collected as water cess.

To collect this amount, as many as 70 employees went on a door-to-door drive in the city over the last 5 days.

During the drive, it was found that some people had not paid the water and house tax for five to ten years.

The water connectivity to 29 such houses have been disconnected. In some cases, drainage line has been disconnected.

City Municipal Council President D K Ningegowda addressing the public said that tax is required for the development of the city hence people should pay tax promptly. Tax collection drive is going on in Ramanahalli, Gaurikaluve, Vijayapura and various other wards.
