Burglary: Jewellery worth ` six lakh stolen

The theft occurred at the  house of a retired school teacher , Chandrashekhar at  Krishnanagar layout and another house belonging to teacher couple Lingaraju opposite TAPCMS office in the town.

The theft had taken place when the inmates were away. They have taken away gold, silver ornaments totalling worth ` six lakh.

The burglars gained entry into the house of Lingaraju after breaking the window when the couple were sleeping in the first floor, and decamped with  the booty.

On receipt of information, Deputy Superintendent of Police A Lawrence, Circle Inspector G Krishnamurthy, Sub- inspector M Manjunath visited the spot. The police collected finger prints of the miscreants and suspected the involvement of a same gang in both the cases.

Meanwhile, the residents are living under fear due to increase in theft cases. The miscreants had looted gold and silver ornaments from a house at Beerashettyhalli layout in the town, recently.

Town Police have registered both the cases.

Bike rider dies   

A rider of two-wheeler died on the spot and the pillion rider sustained injuries when their vehicle collided against Tata Ace mini truck near Mallaiahanapura gate on Thursday night. The deceased has been identified as Nagaraju of Panjanahalli.

The injured has been admitted to hospital. The victim was a mason and he is survived by wife Bhagyamma and two children. The truck, which was coming from Calicut in Kerala, hit the two-wheeler. Sub -Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar visited the spot and registered a case.

Depression: Engg student commits suicide  

Depression in life pushed an engineering student to commit suicide at his house in  Kottalawadi village of the taluk, on Friday. Mahadevaprasad (20), is the deceased. He was studying at BGS Engineering College, Nagamangala. The last rites were held at his village in which a number of political leaders participated.

Homemaker ends life

In another incident, a homemaker committed suicide by setting her on the fire by dousing kerosene at Kelasur village of the taluk on Friday.Rathnamma (34) is the deceased. Family pressure was said to be the reason for her death. She was admitted to hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Terankanambi Police have registered a case.
