HP unveils new data centre

Last Updated 28 April 2011, 15:02 IST

POD compresses the compute power of larger data centres into a smaller enclosure, made possible by combining available technology with designing which would let companies of all sizes adopt or augment IT infrastructure.

Available as 20 or 40 foot containers, it offers more density than what is available in the market with 12,000 large-form-factor (LFF) hard disks and support for 3,500 compute nodes. With 22 x 50U, 19 inch full-depth industry-standard racks, the 40 foot containers can support HP or any other x86 servers. It promises more than 1,800 watt per square foot, while typical data centre can only offer 150 to 200 watt per square foot and POD is pre-configured and pre-tested with guaranteed shipment of 12 weeks from the day of order for Indian customers.
