Chief spokesman of the BJP Ravishankar Prasad said “unease of the Supreme Court was evident” with the high court judgment. “This is vindication of our stand,” the BJP leader.

RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav also said: “We are happy that the plea of the Ram Janmabhoomi movement against the trifurcation of the Ayodhya site has been upheld by the apex court.”

Meanwhile, historians and rights activists including Prof K M Shrimali, Prof K N Panikkar, Prof Rooplekah Verma, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Shabnam Hashmin to welcome it, but also encouraged them to criticise the HC verdict more vigorously. “The Supreme Court’s observation that it found the High Court verdict strange and surprising sums up the irrationality and unreality of a judgment that clashes with the first principles of India’s secular Constitution,” they said in a joint statement on Monday.
