Hasten work, ZP officers told

Officers should regularly submit reports on projects to the Zilla Panchayat, said chief executive officer B S Shekharappa. The projects should be completed quickly and in time, he added.

He was addressing the district progress review meeting at the Zilla Panchayat auditorium on Wednesday.

“Executive officers of all taluks as well as officers in every department should work diligently, ensuring that there is no leeway for error of any kind,” he said.

Help for agriculture

Joint director of the agricultural department Nataraj informed that under the Bhoochetana project of the department, micronutrients are being supplied for crops. “As much as 18 thousand quintals of seeds are required for sowing on 153 hectares. So far, we have received up to six quintals of seeds,” he added.

Grants of Rs 1,000 crore have been reserved for 10 lakh farmers in the State, under the Suvarna Bhoomi project. As many as 36,318 agriculture-based families will benefit from the project, Nataraj informed.

Toilets for schools

C U Chandrashekhar, the deputy director of the public education department, said Rs 23 crore has been granted under the Sarva Shikshana project and 90 per cent of the work completed. “We have received grants of Rs 240 lakh for construction of toilets in government girls' schools. Construction work for 940 toilets is on and 75 per cent of the work will complete by May end,” he informed.

Referring to the recent book fest, Chandrashekhar added that books worth Rs three thousand and Rs nine thousand were purchased for schools on the occasion.

Cleanliness first

The health and family welfare department officer provided information regarding prevention measures against especially contagious diseases. Priority has been given to cleanliness in villages.

He added that Rs 50 lakh was granted for construction of the district hospital. “Work will begin soon,” he promised.

Zilla Panchayat president Chinnappaiah, vice-president B Savithramma and officers from various departments were present.
