CPM worker shot dead in group clash

A few members of Balanadka CPM unit, including Ravindra celebrated the victory of their candidate in Uduma constituency, and stayed on in the house of Hasainar while others returned to their houses.

While Ravindra was in Hasainar’s house, Congress worker Sridharan (35) who arrived in a vehicle shot at Ravindra, killing him on the spot.

The police have arrested Sridharan. Ravindra leaves his wife and a 20-day-old child. Sridharan left CPM and joined the Congress recently.

Following the incident, a hartal was observed in Delampady Gram Panchayat limits on Saturday. As a result, all the buses to Puttur and Kasargod plied only till Kotyadi. Security has been beefed up in Pallangodu, Adoor, Devaradka, Pandi. All the business establishments in Delampady Gram Panchayat limits remained closed.

Other incidents
Meanwhile, in the violence that broke out after the election results, LDF party office was damaged at Badoor near Puthige. There was also a clash between LDF and UDF members at Bedrampalla, Maniyampare and Mayippadi. The workers of UDF assaulted a bus cleaner Mohan on Kumble-Perla route. He is recuperating at Kumble government hospital.

The window panes of a house belonging to Abdulla were damaged during a cracker burst at Peral in Kumble. The police have registered a case against 50 UDF workers. With the victory celebrations, the National Highway at Hosangady was blocked for two hours. In a seperate incident, some miscreants assaulted an auto driver Mani at Paravanadka.
